Who was the first celebrity chef you noticed?

Image 1. Click to open in original size.

Who was the first celebrity chef (baker, chocolatier, etc) you noticed, so that you knew his/her name and/or appearance?

For example, mine was Jamie Oliver, me and my sister started to follow his show "The naked chef". She did it bcause she thiught he was cute and I (already in pre teens) for the cooking.

Mine is also Jamie Oliver, but for different reasons! When I was in primary school (aged 5-11) I saw loads of changes to our school meals and tuck shop, no longer could we buy sweets and instead out only option was fruit! This was due to the Jamie Oliver healthy school meals takeover! Despite not being happy at the time it’s probably done me good in long run.

For me that sounds so odd, buying sweets in school I mean.

That does not happen in swedish schools, not the ones I have been at at least.

But as I understand it from that show, it's common in the US at least.

I used to buy only cookies for lunch in middle and high school Laughing out loud A proper meal was like 3-5$ and three large cookies were only a dollar, so I chose cookies almost everyday.

#1 Jamie Oliver and school meals are almost synonymous in the UK, for better or for worse. I'll never forget the way in which turkey dinosaurs were taken off the menu Crying

In the UK certain people are allowed free school if they're parents income is below a certain amount. There's a big application process and it sometimes meant that people who needed were unable to get them and those you didn't did but overall the system was good.

I grew up hearing about Julia Child. She was probably the first Celebrity Chef ever. But her Chefdom, (yes, I made up that word), lasted for many, many years. Her rise to Chefdom was quite interesting. You should Netflix the movie based on her if you ever get a chance.

Happy creating!

First celebrity chef, hmm… The first ones I remember now was Eric Lallerstedt and Jan Boris-Möller, but I think I was an adult when they became famous.

Best regards, Niklas 🎈

I grew up watching Emeril Lagasse religiously with my family and I think that is where I really got the knack for Italian cooking.

#18 I can only judge from what I have seen but the shows I have seen has little or nothing about food but it's more about him yelling at People

#19 haha you're not wrong there, he is famous for that! But his youtube channel offers some good recipes and techniques. It is just him in a kitchen with no-one to yell at.
